Job Description

Nippon Express NEC Logistics Europe B.V. is a Japanese company established in 2002 that belongs to the world-wide Nittsu NEC Logistics Group.
The company has just relocated to a new building at the Conakryweg 2a, 1047 HS in Amsterdam (Westpoort area). The company currently has about 22 employees divided over mainly the Warehouse, Operations and Administration team. The company's core business activities consist of the provision of logistics and warehousing services as well as other activities such as the provision of customs-related and administrative services and special (processing) projects.
Nippon Express NEC Logistics Europe B.V. is looking for two new colleagues (per immediately) seriously interested in a long-term job as Teamleader for the Warehouse Team.

Responsibilities and tasks:
Daily leadership-related tasks:
1. Direct leading and daily control of the warehouse staff on the work floor:
-Take the direct lead on the work floor, give directions to and divide work orders among the WH staff.
-Estimate the (daily/weekly) workload, plan work and determine the priority and urgency of orders in consultation with the Expedition Office and/or (direct) Manager.
-Keep control of the progress of the work processes/orders and check if all tasks are finished by the end of the day (order processing, cleaning, etc.).
-Estimate and plan possible extra work (overtime etc.) and communicate on this timely with WH staff and Manager.
-Be the first point of contact for WH staff on issues/questions about the daily WH operation.
-Escalate issues/questions regarding the daily operation to the Manager if necessary.
-Assist the Manager in planning holiday schedules and requests for time off received from WH staff.
-Assist the Manager in drafting and updating work instructions/procedures for WH tasks, handling of orders for (new) clients, etc.
-Provide the Manager with information on WH staff’s performance on the work floor.
-Train new employees (incl. agency workers) on all occurring WH tasks.
-Keep track of stocks of packing material, any occurring issues with WH equipment (trucks), etc. and timely report on this to the Manager.

General tasks:
2. Inbound:
-Unload goods.
-Check packages for damage.
-Count number of packages.
-Inform Warehouse Manager in case of damage and/or problems.
3. Checking goods:
-Check pallet numbers.
-Open boxes per pallet number.
-Unpack boxes.
-Repack contents of boxes in plastic bins.
-Check goods for damage.
-Put aside goods in right position at the appointed locations by way of forklift
truck, pump wagon etc.
4. Order picking:
-Pick orders according to picking list distributed by the Warehouse
Manager or a person appointed by him for assembly line or preparation of
(finished) goods to be shipped out:
5. Outbound:
-Correct packing of goods to be shipped out according to fixed packing
instructions.
-Load cargo in trucks.
6. Safeguarding safety and order in the warehouse and taking responsibility for an
accurate handling of all goods and materials of Nippon Express NEC Logistics Europe
and its clients:
-Maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and installations e.g. in the
warehouse.
-Keep the warehouse itself clean and safe.

Job Requirements

Requested skills:
*Experience with leading and ability to guide and instruct staff on the work floor.
*Valid reach/forklift/EPT driving certificate.
*Knowledge of and experience in handling all occurring warehouse activities such as inbound/outbound picking/packing/(un)loading/scanning/stock counts etc.

-One will start out with fixed-term contracts that would become a permanent contract after proven ability. It’s a full-time position (40 hours per week), currently regular working hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and the lunch break amounts to 30 minutes (between 12:30 and 1 p.m.).
-Starting period: as soon as possible.
-Salary indication (full-time, 40 hours per week): between euro 2220 and 2500 gross per month, varying depending on skills, knowledge and experience.
