JCC/JETRO/TMI/Simmons&Simmons seminar | EU-Japan Digital Day — The Digital Regulation Frontline: Data, AI & Privacy

EU-Japan Digital Day — The Digital Regulation Frontline: Data, AI & Privacy

JCC is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with JETRO Amsterdam, TMI Associates and Simmons & Simmons, we will be hosting a seminar entitled “EU-Japan Digital Day — The Digital Regulation Frontline: Data, AI & Privacy” on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

The regulatory landscape surrounding digital business is evolving rapidly across the EU, the UK and Japan.

Increased regulation of cross-border data flows, the privacy implications of the latest employment legislation, and developments relating to the Digital Omnibus are all matters of significant importance to corporate management, regardless of industry.

This seminar will provide a practical overview of the key legal and regulatory issues in the digital space that Japanese companies operating in the Netherlands and Dutch companies conducting business in Japan need to be aware of, from a comparative perspective covering the Netherlands, the EU and Japan.  In addition, recognising that many of our member companies also have operations in or business relationships with the UK, the seminar will also incorporate a UK law perspective.

The programme consists of three sessions covering digital trade, the privacy implications of the EU Pay Transparency Directive and the Digital Omnibus, followed by a panel discussion on the practical use of AI tools in the HR and legal departments of participating companies.

Each session will be conducted in either English or Japanese. For sessions held in English, a Japanese-speaking lawyer will provide a summary of the key points in Japanese afterwards.

Following the seminar, there will be a networking reception with drinks and light refreshments, offering an opportunity to engage with the speakers, panellists and each other.

If you wish to attend, please register via the JCC member website by September 10.

Early registration is recommended. Should you have any questions, please contact the JCC Secretariat. We look forward to welcoming you.
