Brightlands Chemelot Campus / Brightlands Circular Space Visiting Event
Application closed.
Please call JCC secretariat ASAP if you still want to register.
As a joint initiative of the Southern Region Committee and the Investment & Business Environment Committee, JCC is pleased to invite you to the visit of Brightlands Circular Space, located in the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen-Sittered (Limbrug).
The Brightlands Chemelot Campus is a leading innovation hub specializing in materials science, chemistry, and the circular economy. It brings together companies, universities, and research institutions in an integrated environment that supports everything from R&D to commercialization of sustainable technologies. While similar facilities exist across Europe, Brightlands Chemelot Campus stands out for its strong collaboration between industry, academia, and government; its emphasis on “co-creation” over competition; its smooth communication in English; and its open support systems for foreign companies—including Japanese firms—such as incubation programs and tax incentives.
Located within the campus, the Brightlands Circular Space is an open innovation hub focused on circular plastics. Construction began in 2025, with full-scale operations scheduled for 2027. Brightlands Circular Space brings together all of the interested parties from producers to users, recyclers and researchers—to accelerate circular solutions for plastic. In an open demonstration facility, they show the possibilities for circular plastics such as those found in food packaging and medical products, but also in the fields of automotive, textile and electronics. By devising innovative technologies, business models and forms of cooperation, they aim to ensure that sustainable circular plastics will remain available for future generations.
Presentations will be also given by two Japanese companies based at the facility—Teijin and Mitsubishi Chemical—as well as by TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research. TNO is a public and neutral institute established by the Dutch Parliament in 1932, with an office in Japan.
While most of JCC seminars and events are held in the Amsterdam area, this event will take place in the southern region, Sittard-Geleen, providing a valuable opportunity for networking between member companies from both the south and other regions.
We look forward to your participation!
