JCC/KPMG European Regulatory Update and Management Practice Seminar
JCC Investment Business Environment Sub committee
Dear JCC member,
We would like to invite you to join the JCC /KPMG Seminar on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
In recent years, the regulatory and practical landscape surrounding sustainability, cyber security, and the use of artificial intelligence has been evolving rapidly across Europe. For Japanese companies operating in Europe or engaging in business with European counterparties, it has become increasingly important to accurately understand these developments and to take appropriate and timely action.
The first half of the seminar will focus on recent European regulatory developments, as well as key practical considerations for corporate responses, covering the following topics:
[First part]
1. Sustainability‑related regulations update
This session will provide an overview of the latest developments in European sustainability-related regulations such as CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), and EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation). It will also highlight the potential implications for Japanese companies, along with key practical considerations such as the governance frameworks and actions required to respond effectively.
2. Cyber security‑related regulations update
This session will cover the latest developments in EU digital regulations, including Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), Network and Information System Directive 2 (NIS2) and EU AI Act, ahead of their upcoming enforcement deadlines. We will outline essential strategic points and practical compliance measures for Japanese companies.
The second half of the seminar will shift focus to how such regulatory‑driven foundations can be translated into tangible management outcomes, addressing practical business challenges commonly faced by companies.
[Second part]
1. Working capital management
Taking into account the financial characteristics common to Japanese companies, we will explain key concepts and practical approaches to working capital optimization. The session will also incorporate compliance considerations while introducing management‑oriented strategies.
2. Integration of AI into business operations and its impact on management
This session will explore how (Agentic) AI delivers value into actual business processes, its impact on financial performance and corporate growth. The session provides a view on (Agentic) AI, including ways to approach the topic and examples. The session will focus on perspectives particularly relevant to senior management and executives.
We hope that this seminar will be useful as part of your information gathering efforts.
We look forward to your participation.
