JCC online event on March 11, 2021 Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years after – Nederland bedankt –

March 11, 2021 marks 10 years of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

JCC organized JCC online event on March 11, 2021 Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years after – Nederland bedankt – on March 11, 2021.

This event was organized to express our sincere condolences to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, and offer our heartfelt sympathy to all who were affected in the disaster area.

At the same time, we wanted to express our gratitude to the tremendous support from Dutch people and society to the affected area after the earthquake and tsunami.

It was also a good opportunity for both Dutch and Japanese to know about the reconstruction progress in last 10 years and the current situation through video message from affected cities.

1)   Opening:  Mr Kentaro Kubota,  Vice Chairman of  JCC

2)  Recall of support activities in the Netherlands in 2011 and reconstruction in affected area. (Video)

  • March 16, 2011 : Pray for Japan ceremony at Sakura Park (Amsterdamse Bos) in Amstelveen 
  • April 8, 2011 : Stichting Nederland helpt Japan and Hotel Okura Amsterdam Charity Dinner
  • April 13, 2021: Nederland helpt Japan national action  / Opened GIRO6868
    • Charity event @ Amsterdam Arena (currently named as Johan Cruyff Stadium) 
    • 1st part: Nederland helpt Japan charity concert
    • 2nd part: AJAX vs Shimizu S-Pulse charity football match 
    • More than 6 million euro was collected in one day and was sent to Japan Red cross through Dutch Red cross
  • June 2012: 25,000 tulip bulbs were sent to Rikuzen Takata by Dutch bulb grower
  • The countless big and small events were organized in the Netherlands to support affected area

– On March 10 2021, one day prior to March 11, Mr Takase, Chairman of JCC visited Sakura park and present the flower at the Tsunami plate.
